Networked Bus Exerciser, Analyzer, Compliance Checker & Protocol Checker for CompactPCI

  • Supports PCI-X and PCI Protocol
  • All functions operate concurrently and independently
  • Networked CompactPCI Bus Analyzer with built-in Ethernet port
  • 2-MSample Trace Buffer at 256 bits
  • Optional Protocol Checker and Exerciser

The Vanguard CompactPCI Networked Bus Analyzer supports PCI and PCI-X protocol and signaling and manages PCI / PCI-X analysis, protocol detection, exercising, and compliance checking. This CompactPCI analyzer takes the power and flexibility of Curtiss-Wright's range of Bus Analyzers to new levels of productivity with a 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet interface. The Vanguard CompactPCI can serve as a peripheral card or system controller. The Vanguard gives users the option of controlling the bus analyzer from a PC running Windows and BusView graphical user interface or an Application Programming Interface (API). The PCI and CompactPCI form factors share a common hardware module—the State Analyzer Module (SAM). The SAM is interchangeable between the carrier boards of the PCI and CompactPCI.

State Analyzer
To provide the best possible bus analysis for any situation, the state analyzer offers three sampling modes: Standard, Clock and Transfer Mode. Employing state-of-the-art, user-friendly counting, triggering and filtering capabilities, the Vanguard CompactPCI’s State Analyzer captures and displays 64-bit or 32-bit PCI-X/PCI bus activity up to 133 MHz.

Exercisers
The Vanguard CompactPCI is available in two Exerciser versions—basic and enhanced—that offer users flexibility and ease of use. The exercisers are designed to allow simultaneous operation of two DMA engines, a command executor, and a target memory with I/O and memory spaces. The Vanguard’s flexible script feature enables test scripts to be created and automates tasks.

Protocol Checker
The optional protocol checker of the Vanguard CompactPCI automatically detects up to 71 PCI-X and 45 PCI protocol errors. This valuable feature—capable of running in the background during other analyzer functions—helps the user detect bus hardware errors without having to know the nature of the problem. For instance, the protocol checker can be screening for bus errors while the state analyzer and bus utilization statistics are running. In cases when the protocol checker serves as the trigger source for the analyzer(s), the state and timing analyzers will provide a comprehensive record of bus activity around the point when an error is found. This feature allows the user to identify and resolve the problem.
